The Story
Visually similar to Chrysochroa castelnaudi but in purple metallic, this jewel beetle has a red, sparkly colored head to thorax, hence their common name "Red-Speckled Jewel." Its abdomen is predominantly cream in color with purple metallic patched and wing tips. A lovely, magnificent jewel from Malaysia! This is a subspecies to Bup167 (Chrysochroa buqueti), practically twins!
